in welcoming Terrance Carroll
as the President of the SCBA for 2013!

Terrance D. Carroll is an attorney with Greenberg Traurig, LLP, is the current President of the Sam Cary Bar Association, is an adjunct professor at the University Of Denver Sturm College Of Law and was the 54th Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives.  He is the first African-American to have served as Speaker of the Colorado House.  Prior to becoming Speaker of the House, he served as Assistant Majority Leader, and served for 4 years as Chair of the House Judiciary Committee.

A graduate of the University of Denver College of Law, Speaker Carroll graduated with honors from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia with a degree in political science. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver and is a graduate of the Summer Leadership Institute at Harvard University Divinity School’s Center for the Study of Values in Public Life.  Speaker Carroll is an Ordained Baptist Minister and serves on the boards of the Children’s Hospital Colorado, the Metropolitan State University of Denver, the National Western Stock Show, along with the Denver Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Speaker Carroll draws on his political intelligence and experience to provide strategic counsel to companies on regulatory and governmental initiatives that impact business decisions. In particular, he helps his clients develop and implement strategies in connection with economic development and tax incentives, public-private partnerships, infrastructure, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, public appropriations and finance, government oversight, crisis management, and business regulation. He also represents clients in the array of issues related to election and campaign finance laws.
